ISO 9001:2026 Lead Auditor: Audit a QMS Step by Step

ISO 9001 was revised in 2026, and auditing the sixth edition is not the 2015 audit with new clause numbers. Risks and opportunities have been pulled apart into separate sub-clauses with separate obligations. Quality culture and ethical behaviour are now auditable requirements. Organizations must determine whether climate change is a relevant issue. And Annex A now defines the requirement verbs that decide whether a finding survives being challenged.

This course teaches you to plan, lead and report a full ISO 9001:2026 audit — first, second or third party. It is built as the audit engagement itself: criteria, principles, programme, plan, opening meeting, evidence, findings, report, closing meeting, corrective action and the certification decision.

Every requirement in this course was verified against the published sixth edition. A great deal of material circulated before publication was wrong — including claims about a Clause 10.3 that does not exist in the 2026 edition. Auditing from a requirement that is not in the standard is how findings get overturned.

You audit a real organization throughout — a precision machining business certifying a new medical-device plant while transitioning two existing sites. Fifteen findings are planted in it. Six assignments and two role plays run against a second, service-sector company, so the worked answers cannot simply be copied across.
