What you'll learn

Configure Spark pools, environments, domains, OneLake settings and Apache Airflow jobs so the workspace behaves predictably
Put a workspace under source control, deploy a warehouse schema as a database project, and promote items through deployment pipelines
Implement access from the workspace role down to rows, columns, objects, folders and files, and separate data access with OneLake security
Mask sensitive values without making the table unqueryable, and classify items so the label survives every copy
Prove access with the audit log, and endorse the items consumers should actually trust
Choose between Dataflow Gen2, pipelines and notebooks on the evidence rather than on habit
Design full, incremental and streaming loads, and make a load safe to rerun
Model a star schema with conformed dimensions and type 2 history, and generate surrogate keys that survive a source rekey
Ingest with shortcuts, mirroring, Copy activities and Get Metadata, and keep the source of truth in one place
Transform with PySpark, T-SQL and KQL, and denormalize, group, pivot and conform on purpose
Handle duplicates, missing values and late-arriving data without silently changing a published total
Choose a streaming engine, set checkpoints and watermarks, and use tumbling, hopping and sliding windows correctly
Monitor ingestion, transformation and model refresh, and get the alert to the team that can act on it
Diagnose pipeline, Dataflow, notebook, eventhouse, eventstream, T-SQL and shortcut errors from the right evidence
Optimize lakehouse tables, pipelines, the warehouse, Spark jobs and real-time queries, and prove the gain
Practise 600 original questions, including 24 case studies, with an explanation for every option

Course Description

You can build a notebook. Can you explain why the data landed in a lakehouse rather than a warehouse — and why the load is incremental, the security is folder-scoped, and the alert fires before the business notices?

Prepare for Microsoft DP-700 (Microsoft Certified: Fabric Data Engineer Associate) with 600 original questions across six full-length mock exams of 100 items each. Every exam is blueprint-weighted, so each one is a coherent rehearsal of the whole blueprint rather than a random topic dump.

This is a builder's exam for Microsoft Fabric. It expects working judgement about workspace settings for Spark, domains, OneLake and Apache Airflow; lifecycle management with Git, database projects and deployment pipelines; security and governance from workspace roles down to row, column, object and file-level controls, dynamic data masking, sensitivity labels, endorsement, audit logs and OneLake security; orchestration choices between Dataflow Gen2, pipelines and notebooks; full and incremental loads, dimensional models and streaming patterns; shortcuts, mirroring, and the choice between lakehouse, warehouse and eventhouse; and finally monitoring, error diagnosis and performance tuning across the lakehouse, warehouse, Spark and Real-Time Intelligence.

DP-700 tests configuration, and this package honours that. You will read a Spark pool setting, a deployment rule, a shortcut definition, a watermark pattern, a KQL window, a Delta optimization step, and a Spark join strategy — and decide what to change. That is deliberate: it is the one place this course departs from a purely conceptual style, because a data engineer is judged on configuration.

WHAT YOU GET

• Six original 100-question mock exams

• Blueprint weighting on every exam: 33 / 33 / 34 across the three published domains

• Mixed item types: 76 multiple-choice, 16 multi-select, with 8 of the multiple-choice items asking you to pick the correct candidate sequence

• Four three-question case studies inside every exam

• An explanation for every option plus a case-specific overall rationale

• Local study-map skill anchors and the official study-guide reference on every item

• Offline Markdown review copies alongside instructor CSV files

• A reproducible ZIP, a validation report, and automated structural tests

HOW THE ITEM MIX MATCHES THE REAL EXAM

The live role-based exam is not a glossary quiz. Microsoft publishes a scaled pass score of 700/1000 and a three-domain blueprint, and candidates routinely see case studies, multi-select items, and scenario questions about a concrete workspace, pipeline, or table.

These mock exams reproduce what a CSV player can score honestly:

• Single-choice items with one best answer.

• Multi-select items that state the required count ("Select two") and accept a comma-separated key.

• Ordering items rendered as four candidate sequences, so sequencing judgement is tested without a drag-and-drop UI.

• Case studies: a shared scenario followed by three scored questions, exactly as a case-study block behaves in the exam.

What is deliberately not reproduced, and is stated in every export: drag-and-drop and hot-area UI, live labs and interactive portal components, adaptive problem-solution (yes/no) sets, and the live item count.

HOW THE FILES ARE EXPORTED

Udemy's bulk question importer accepts only two `Question Type` values: `multiple-choice` and `multi-select`. Every file here therefore exports 84 multiple-choice and 16 multi-select items per exam. The eight sequencing items are authored as four candidate orderings with one correct answer, so they upload as ordinary multiple-choice items — no drag-and-drop UI is required and scoring stays exact.

WHY EACH EXAM IS 100 ITEMS

Microsoft does not publish a DP-700 item count, so this package does not pretend to match one. A 100-item bank per exam gives every sub-objective real coverage and lets you drill the same blueprint twice without repeating a question. The published clock is 100 minutes, and you can rehearse against it — see the pacing note below.

THE SIX EXAMS

1. LAKEHOUSE FOUNDATIONS AND INGESTION

Adventure Works Cycles, Contoso Energy, Fabrikam Logistics, and Litware Retail: Spark pools and environments, domains, Git and database projects, deployment pipelines, workspace and item access, row and column security, masking, labels, audit logs, OneLake security, and the choice between Dataflow Gen2, pipelines and notebooks over bronze, silver and gold.

2. GOVERNANCE, LIFECYCLE, AND THE WAREHOUSE

Woodgrove Bank, Alpine Ski House, Northwind Traders, and Proseware Media: default environments, deployment rules, folder grants, masking exemptions, default labels, export windows, OneLake roles, star schemas and type 2 dimensions, surrogate keys, merge patterns, and a no-code streaming path.

3. REAL-TIME INTELLIGENCE AND OPERATIONAL MONITORING

Beacon Health, Riverside Transit, Tailspin Toys, and Consolidated Courier: eventstreams, native tables versus shortcuts, structured streaming, checkpoints and watermarks, tumbling and hopping windows, materialized views, ingestion failure tables, eventstream metrics, and alerts that fire before the business notices.

4. DIMENSIONAL MODELLING, HISTORY, AND MULTI-WORKSPACE GOVERNANCE

Coho Winery, Trey Research, Nod Publishers, and Fourth Coffee Roasters: domains across forty trial workspaces, folder-scoped OneLake roles, certification, type 2 dimensions for a rights dispute, conformed franchisee files, pivot and grouping, and the reject table that keeps a load running.

5. PERFORMANCE, SCALE, AND REPRODUCIBLE REPORTING

Lakeshore Retail Group, Margie Travel, Wide World Importers, and VanArsdel Manufacturing: 240,000 small files, Z-Order and partitioning, salting a hot key, broadcast joins, shuffle partitions, coalesce, warehouse statistics and distribution, capacity smoothing, retention and caching policy, and a documented revenue figure.

6. CROSS-INDUSTRY CAPSTONE

Bellows College, Munson Sporting Goods, Relecloud Telecom, and Granite Peak Outfitters: one governed platform across suppliers, colleges and networks, multi-channel ingestion, streaming alerts within two minutes, peek-season capacity, and the whole design-build-release-observe loop end to end.

EACH EXAM CONTAINS

• 33 questions on Implement and manage an analytics solution

• 33 questions on Ingest and transform data

• 34 questions on Monitor and optimize an analytics solution

COVERAGE THAT IS EXPLICIT ABOUT ITS LIMITS

All three published domains and 40 local study-map skills have mapped practice. Numeric skill IDs are local study aids, not Microsoft objective numbers. Mapping does not mean every sub-objective has equal depth, and the questions have not been psychometrically calibrated against the live exam. Nothing here requires a Fabric capacity or a tenant; where an item depends on a capability or a licence, the explanation names the dependency.

HOW THE CERTIFICATION ACTUALLY WORKS

DP-700 is a proctored Pearson VUE exam for the Microsoft Certified: Fabric Data Engineer Associate certification, aimed at engineers who ingest, transform, secure, monitor and optimize analytics solutions in Microsoft Fabric. Microsoft scores it on a 700/1000 scaled scale and publishes the blueprint. The certification page lists a **100-minute** duration and a **$165 USD** fee in the United States; both are published by Microsoft and may change, so confirm them before booking. An AI Skills Navigator practice assessment is offered separately by Microsoft and is not this course.

HOW PRACTICE DIFFERS FROM THE SCORE

Microsoft reports a scaled score of 700/1000, not a raw percentage, so a practice percentage is not a scaled exam score and no conversion is implied. Any percentage target you set is a study convention. Use **100 minutes** to rehearse the published clock, or take your first pass untimed and time only the second attempt.

Concepts and option definitions recur across exams for reinforcement. Six hundred distinct question stems do not mean six hundred independent concepts or six independent readiness estimates. No score, calibrated difficulty, or certification result is guaranteed.

Who this course is for:

  • Data engineers preparing for DP-700 who can write a notebook but have not had to defend its design
  • Analytics engineers moving from Azure Data Factory or Synapse into Microsoft Fabric
  • BI developers who now own the lakehouse and warehouse layers, not just the report
  • Platform and governance staff who own workspace roles, OneLake security, labels, and audit evidence
  • Architects who must explain why a load, a store, or a shortcut is the right choice for the constraint
  • Anyone who wants to know why the plausible answer is wrong, not just which letter is right
